Programs

The Virginia College and Career Readiness Initiative is designed to:

• Ensure that college and career-ready learning standards in reading, writing and mathematics are taught in every Virginia high school classroom.

• Strengthen students' preparation for college and the work force before leaving high school.

• VDOE leads the initiative, working in close collaboration with leaders in the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and the State Council of Higher Education (SCHEV)

WIOA was signed into law on July 22, 2014. WIOA is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled employees they need to compete in the global economy. 

Adult English Language learners communicate in spoken English for a range of purposes, contexts, and audiences using appropriate levels of fluency and accuracy to participate actively in discourse relevant to their life roles. Classes provide instruction to improve receptive and expressive English Language skills.
